petra tou romiou - Aphrodite's birthplace in paphos cyprus
From the sign in the photo posted at Petra tou Romiou
Petra Tou Romiou is a designated Bathing Water (bw). Water quality is monitored by the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment during the bathing season (May 1 to October 31). Petra tou Romiou is situated at the coastal area of Kouklia in Paphos District. A small stream empties into the BW. It has a beach with pebbles, formed by the deposition of gravel behind the big rock (Rock of Aphrodite). The prevailing wind direction during the bathing season is the Southwest. From the evaluation of the pollution sources within the land and sea area of influence of the BW, it is estimated that there is a low risk of macroalgae and phytoplankton growth. The risk of short term pollution incidents is negligible, with an incidence of no more than once during the bathing season. Our monitoring point for taking water quality samples is located towards the mid point of the designated area, as shown on the following map. Opened in 1987, the school provides state-of-the-art facilities, a comprehensive programme and the dynamic, multi-faceted high-quality education with individual attention and care for each of its students.
