The Cyprus Statistics department has released the final figures for tourism and travel for the year 2010. The Cyprus economy depends heavily on tourism and these numbers are a good indicator of the economy. The total number of arrivals in 2010 was 3,745,261 compared to 3,731,684 which is a small increase of 13,577 over 2009. The number of same day visitors was 277,435 an increase from 228,787 the prior year. Tourist arrivals were 2,172,998 a 1.5% increase over 2009. The majority of arrivals were from the UK with 37% followed by Russia, Greece, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland and Israel. You can download the whole report here.

According to the Cyprus statistical services the population for Cyprus in 2009 grew by 0,8% from 796,900 to 803,200 which is way under the one million mark. I was looking at a website which wrote that the population was over a million which made me go searching for this.
Other interesting numbers from the report include: The number of deaths reached 5.182 Life expectancy is estimated at 77,9 years for males and 82,4 for females. The number of divorces reached 1.738 from 1.639 in 2008. |
