UNESCO Heritage Sites in Cyprus and more

Cyprus is home to more than warm weather and sunshine. The island is famous for itt' year round outdoor temperatures but thousands come to visit Cyprus every year just to visit some of the ancient sites throughout the island.

  • Agios Ioannis Lampadistis Church  is an 11th century  Monastery that consists of 3 churches near Kaopanagiotis in the Troodos mountains.
  • Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis Church or Saint Nicholas of the Roof is near Kakopetria in Troodos. Painted with murials from the 11th century. 

  • Archangelos Michail Church in Troodos is a 15th century building
  • Chorirokoitia Neolithic Settlement in Larnaca is from the 6th millennium BC. The neolithic style settlements were abandoned in the 4th millennium B.C. 
  • Metamorfosis tou Sotiros Church is a 16th century site overlooking Palaichori village in Troodos. 
  • Paphos (Pafos) Medieval Fort is a 13th century fort overlooking the Mediterranean sea in the very popular tourist area at the Paphos harbour. 
  • Paphos Mosaics are the floors of villas dated between the 3rd and 5th century that were accidentaly discovered by a farmer in 1962 near the Fort in Paphos
  • Pangia Asinou Church is a 12 th century Byzantine church with wall paintings in Troodos.
  • Pangia Podithou Church is a 15th century church with Byzantine paintings and is located by the village of Galata.
  • Panagia tou Araka Church is from the 12 th century and is located near the village of Lagoudera.
  • Panagia tou Moutoulla Church in Troodos - 13th century chapel
  • Sanctuary of Aphrodite at Palaepafos in Paphos dates back to the 12th century B.C. and was a main pilgrimage centre.
  • Saranta Kolones Castle in Paphos is a 7th century castle with granite columns and eight towers.
  • Stavros tou Agiasmati Church dates to the 15th century near the village of Platanistasa in Troodos
  • Timios Stavros Church dates to the 14th century in Troodos
  • Tombs of the Kings in Paphos are located near the sea and are dated back to the Hellenistic and early Romans period. They served as home during the period and not as tombs.
