Los Bandidos

For a long time, I felt like there were no real Mexican restaurants in Cyprus. Mexican food is one of my favorite types of food, so this was a problem for me. I wanted to find out if there were actually any good Mexican restaurants on the island, so I decided to try some of them for myself and see which ones were worth checking out.

​One that stood out to me was called Los Bandidos, located in the center of Ayia Napa. Established in 1993, Los Bandidos has been serving Mexican and Tex-Mex food in Ayia Napa for over 30 years.

Once you get inside, you will feel the Mexican atmosphere and see the colorful decor. Almost everyone describes the inside as loud and lively, but not too loud where you can’t talk to the people at your table.

But of course, the food is what matters most at Los Bandidos. Some of the customers’ favorite dishes are the fajitas, which many people describe as very flavorful and arguably one of the most popular dishes on the menu. You can get your fajitas with either chicken or beef. The burritos are another highlight, with many people also saying they are delicious and very big in size. 

​They also have a good selection of starters, including nacho options and guacamole. If, for whatever reason, you’re not interested in Mexican food, they have some other options, which include burgers, steaks, ribs, lamb chops, chicken wings, a salmon and avocado wrap, and some seafood options. What almost every customer really agrees on, though, is how good their margaritas are. I’ve heard so much high praise about them, and some people even call them the best margaritas in Cyprus. One flavor you should definitely try is the strawberry margarita, which gets particularly high praise. They also have a deal where if you dine from 5–7 PM, you get 10% off your bill along with a free margarita. The prices are a bit higher than other Mexican restaurants in the area, but they aren’t bad. I would say the prices are reasonable for being in Ayia Napa, especially because of the generous portion sizes. The main courses are typically around €13–€20, and the starters are around €8–€12.       

I think Los Bandidos is a restaurant that can be good for families, but even better for groups of friends because of the lively atmosphere and the location. Being in the center of Ayia Napa makes it really easy to go out and check out the nightlife or do other stuff when you’re done eating. I would say because it is loud in there, it maybe would not be the best place for a date, but that’s my personal preference.

Overall, I think Los Bandidos is worth checking out if you are in Ayia Napa and looking for Mexican or Tex-Mex food. The good portions, lively atmosphere, and margaritas make it a great option for families or especially groups of friends. The location is also a big plus since you can easily head out and enjoy the rest of Ayia Napa after dinner.​​​
