Baracas Lounge

Baracas Lounge is a popular open air restaurant and lounge located in Chloraka, Paphos, known for its relaxed atmosphere and beautiful sea views. It is also a place I have been going to since I was a young kid.

​so I can personally say that I think it is a great place to visit if you have children.

The restaurant has a playground with a large, open area where kids can run around and play while adults sit back and enjoy their food or drinks. I remember playing there for hours as a kid while my parents ate and talked with their friends, which is one of the reasons I think Baracas is a great option for families.

I recently went back in July for lunch and had the carbonara along with a fresh orange juice. The carbonara was very good, and the orange juice was honestly some of the best I have had.

Going during the day also gave me the chance to see the area from a different perspective. If you walk along the path next to Baracas, you can see the beach below, which you can walk down to. The water looked very clear and there were a decent number of people swimming. I have never personally swam there, so I can’t speak about the swimming conditions, but it looked like a nice spot to cool off after eating.

While I enjoyed my meal and thought the beach looked beautiful during the day, I personally think the best time to visit Baracas is at night, especially during the summer. The entire restaurant is open air, including the seating areas that are covered by a roof, so there isn’t an enclosed indoor area to escape the heat. Because of this, it can be very hot during the day and make the experience less enjoyable.

At night, especially during the warmer months, Baracas has a much more lively atmosphere. Even though it gets busier and there are more people enjoying drinks and spending time with friends, it is still a family friendly place, with many families continuing to visit and children playing on the playground. The restaurant stays open until around 2:00 AM and can remain busy well into the late night, making it a good option if you are looking for somewhere to eat, have drinks, and spend time with friends or family.

I think a lot of people go to Baracas Lounge for how nice the atmosphere is, as I mentioned, but if you are looking for something to eat and drink, there are plenty of options on the menu. They have a wide variety of food, including starters, sushi, salads, pinsa, pasta, sandwiches, burgers, meat dishes, seafood and platters.

If you are looking for something to share, some of the options include the mozzarella fingers, nachos, halloumi tempura or one of their platters. For a full meal, you can choose from dishes such as the Baracas Burger, Black Angus Tagliata, Prawn Linguine, Seafood Paella or Garlic Prawns. They also have a sushi selection with options including California Rolls, Salmon Avocado Rolls and Spicy Tuna Rolls.

If you are more in the mood for something lighter, there are several salads and healthy bowls available as well. And if you have a sweet tooth, the dessert menu includes options such as lava cake, cheesecake, apple pie and brownie.

Overall, Baracas Lounge is a place I would recommend if you are looking for somewhere in Paphos with a great atmosphere and beautiful surroundings. During the day, it is a nice place for families to relax, while at night the atmosphere becomes much more lively without losing its family friendly feel. Whether you are looking to sit by the sea, spend time with friends or family, enjoy some drinks, or have a meal, Baracas offers a little bit of everything and is definitely worth checking out while in Paphos.
