According to the Cyprus statistical services the population for Cyprus in 2009 grew by 0,8% from 796,900 to 803,200 which is way under the one million mark.  I was looking at a website which wrote that the population was over a million which made me go searching for this.

The number of deaths reached 5.182

Life expectancy is estimated at 77,9 years for males and 82,4 for females.

The number of divorces reached 1.738 from 1.639 in 2008.
